Harry Styles is a member of the band One Direction, a band that has split ways, in which each member have become solo artists. The 25 year old has been an LGBTQ icon at his shows, by always waving rainbow flags that fans toss at him on stage. He has waved all kinds of flags in the community including bi, trans, and pride flags.

He constantly tells fans that he supports all of them, whether they are gay, straight, white, black, transgender, etc.

He has a few songs that do not seem to include certain pronouns, so he might be referencing the community in them, as in his song “Sweet Creature,” instead of using a certain pronoun, he is calling his love interest a “sweet creature.”

One song that really resonated with fans is “Medicine,” a song that he only performed live on tour. He hasn’t released a studio version of the song, maybe to keep the mystery of the lyrics to be a secret. It is debated upon if he sings the word “him” or “them.” He sings:
The boys and the girls are in
I mess around with him (or them)
And I’m okay with it

These lyrics give hope to fans because he is saying that he is okay with the idea that he likes to have relationships with men or men and women, or anyone really.

He paints his nails, which is considered to be a feminine thing, but he truly does what he wants and I admire him for it:

He is a music artist who is blurring gender boundaries, and moving the norm away from the “Fine Line” that it used to be (a reference to his second album title). Gender really should not matter in this world. If only everyone else could think that way.

He also is not afraid to wear feminine clothing, whether it is sparkles, flowers, kilts, or lavallière bows. On his tour, he wore a lot of clothing that was designed by Harris Reed, a fashion designer who creates gender neutral and androgynous clothing.
